Jose Garzon’s father passed on his knowledge of coffee and his land to his son 23 years ago. Their farm is high in the mountains of Colombia at 6,200’. This coffee is varietal Caturra and is processed washed. The cherries are picked at peak ripeness and then go through an anaerobic fermentation for more than 90 hours. Then the seeds are slowly dried over the next 15 – 20 days.
Garzon has been working with our Colombia partner, In Conexus, for over 10 years. He is a community leader and an advocate for social justice for the people in his municipality of Aipecito. Los Rosales farm is part of the In Conexus program Hug Management where it focuses on building up farm infrastructure and offering its technical assistance to producers to grow more volume while increasing coffee quality.
