La Tribu is an organic coffee grown in the Chipas region of Mexico at 1,650 MASL. It is made up of varietals Bourbon and Typica. We taste Red Apple, Brown Sugar, Milk Chocolate and Hazelnut.
La Tribu is a network of allied cooperatives around Jaltenango, in the Sierra Madre de Chiapas. This area sits right next to the El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve which provides excellent growing conditions for coffee. Most members of the La Tribu network are families with small farms ranging in size from 1 to 3 hectors. They reflect the indigenous makeup of the highlands where land inheritance has meant smaller plots and strong mutual-aid traditions.
